Please find attached the e-mail that I sent to the GAUTENG DEPARTMENTOF ROADS some time before the Bokamoso
Public meeting.
I arrived at the meeting expecting the matters listed in my attachedletter to be address BUT instead we were confronted with a
proposal for a four lane provincial road.
Hopefully we will have an answer from GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF ROADS aboutthe legal status of these roads by
Friday. (Friday 11th March 2005)

DKOA_GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT, ROADS & WORKS
Thank you for the visit on Tuesday morning and the information regarding:
1) The proposed Access from the 'Apollo' Road to the R21.
2) The proposed straightening and upgrading of Sterkfontein Avenue.
We, as a community, are in the process of making application to havethe Eastern Section of the Farm Doornkloof 391JR
declared a controlled access area. The proposed 'access controlledarea' would included the whole of the 'formal' section of
Sterkfontein Avenue. The 'formal section of Sterkfontein Avenue runsover the portions of our private properties that have been
registered as public right of ways.
As you will see from the attached map Sterkfontein Avenue was NOT plannedto be a through road and that the southern section
of this road 'informally' runs over the property of Henri Joubert.The attached map shows that there was no registered public
right of way over what is now the 'Joubert' property.
Whilst we would welcome the proposed access from the 'Apollo' Road tothe R21 and the proposed straightening and upgrading
of Sterkfontein Avenue, we are VERY concerned about the impact thata busy through road would have on our community.

Please see above map and note:
a) The danger areas marked on the map as 'Dead Man's Bend and 'KillerCurve'.
b) Sterkfontein Avenue was not intended to go beyond portion 93 of theFarm Doornkloof 391JR. (See note on the attached map)
c) Sterkfontein Avenue has, by default, become a through road with everincreasing traffic.
e) A high percentage of this traffic is made up of fast moving heavylorries coming in from the south.
f) As a result of the increase in traffic we now have a VERY seriousdust problem as well as other dangers caused by the bends
in the road.
We are of the opinion that access from the 'Plane / Apollo' Road tothe R21 would dramatically reduce the traffic using
Sterkfontein Avenue to access the R21 by means of the Nellmapius /Rietvlei ramp.
